Elina Roinioti is a sociologist and a game researcher. As Ph.D candidate in the Department of Communication, Media and Culture of Panteion University, she works on the development of a qualitative research tool for online games and studies aspects concerning the social game space. She received both her bachelor and master degrees on Sociology from the department of Sociology of Panteion University.
She has contributed in various R&D programmes in collaboration with the National Centre of Social Research, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the University of Oslo and the Institute for Child Health- Department of Mental Health and Social Welfare. Over the past few years she has been designing digital and hybrid games for educational purposes (Panteios, Onassis Cultural Centre). She has also participated in several national and international game festivals, like the Athens Plaython, the P-Public Festival and the Playpublik Krakow.
She has an extensive background in organizing conferences, seminars and designing workshops.
In addition, she is scientific collaborator of the New Technologies Lab at the Department of Communication, Media and Culture, at Panteion University and member of The Games Philosophy Network.
Since 2015 she works for the Secretariat General for Media and Communication as a special advisor in the field of audiovisual media and digital culture
